How to Fish full walkthrough

Every island unlock is a chain. Keep the trigger, keep the trophy, make the hand-in, then follow the next Radar color.

Story chainSpider Crab → Giant Piranha → Pufferfish → Tuna + Albatross → Bowhead + Mutated Whale

The optional bosses help collection and upgrades but do not replace these hand-ins.

Full spoilers from here

This route names every island, quest bait and major boss. Use the spoiler-light first-hour guide if you only need to leave Lighthouse.

Stage 1

Lighthouse

Starting coast

Objective chainEmpty Beer Can → Spider Crab → boat keys and radar
  1. Collect Clams and talk to the island NPCs.
  2. Give Beer to the Lighthouse Keeper for the Empty Beer Can.
  3. Attach the can to the Crab Fishing Rod and defeat Spider Crab.
  4. Return the quest result, collect the keys, then secure the radar.
Bring

Basic firearm, Crab Fishing Rod and enough food for one boss attempt.

Do not

The boss item is a hand-in, not an early cash bonus. Selling or cooking it stalls the route.

Stage 2

Forest Island

Green radar marker

Objective chainThree Leeches → Leech Bait → Giant Piranha
  1. Search the ground around the forest and lake for three Leeches.
  2. Give all three to the lake-side quest giver.
  3. Use the returned Leech Bait to hook Giant Piranha.
  4. Defeat it and return the required trophy for the Desert route.
Bring

Beginner Lure for income, solid close-range damage and inventory room for three pickups.

Do not

Leeches are ground pickups, so repeatedly casting a rod will not solve this step.

Stage 3

Desert Island

Yellow radar marker

Objective chainEligible creature → Carrot → Pufferfish
  1. Use Standard Lure to build money and find an eligible endangered catch.
  2. Trade the catch to the tourist under the tree for a Carrot.
  3. Use the Carrot to summon Pufferfish and play around its charge cycle.
  4. Return the fin or quest result to reveal Rocks Island.
Bring

Mid-range firearm, healing food, Standard Lure; optional Standard Boss Lure for Blue Shark.

Do not

Blue Shark is valuable progression for the grill, but it is not the story boss that reveals the next island.

Stage 4

Rocks Island

Red radar marker

Objective chainProfessional Boss Lure → Tuna body → Albatross
  1. Save for the Professional Boss Lure.
  2. Hook and defeat Tuna without destroying the body.
  3. Place the defeated Tuna in the story area to attract Albatross.
  4. Shoot the bird, keep its head and complete the hand-in for Volcano coordinates.
Bring

Accurate long-range weapon, Professional Boss Lure and open inventory space.

Do not

Never sell or cook the Tuna. Its body is the next encounter trigger.

Stage 5

Volcano Island

Pink radar marker

Objective chainScientist hand-in → Whale Bait → two-phase ending
  1. Complete the military setup and speak to the Scientist.
  2. Bring the requested five fish to receive the whale trigger.
  3. Defeat Bowhead Whale and preserve the body.
  4. Use the defeated whale for the mutated final encounter, then finish the ending sequence.
Bring

Late-game damage, sustained ammunition, food and a deliberately clear inventory.

Do not

The story completion check occurs during the ending sequence, not simply when the final health bar reaches zero.

Ending and achievement checks

Defeating the mutated whale is not the final input. Complete the ending transport sequence so the game can fire its finish check. For Bean, the saved playtime hour component must still be below one; practice this route before attempting it.
