Start a Drip fish hunt with the right creature and bait
To plan a Drip fish hunt, find the missing rare entry, check the bait revealed for its discovered creature, and return to that creature's encounter route. Equipment skins and wishbone purchases are separate decisions; below, we explain what each goal can tell you.
Collector and Fishipedia are separate Steam achievements. The official conditions distinguish finding and killing creatures from finding and killing their Drip variants. An ordinary catch is useful progress, but it does not stand in for its rare form.
| What you are checking | What to compare | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Missing ordinary creature | The base entry and its neighboring entries in the game | Identify the creature or slot before selecting bait. |
| Missing Drip creature | The rare-variant entry alongside the discovered ordinary form | Read the available bait information and plan a targeted hunt. |
| Missing Steam achievement | The in-game collection and Steam's stated condition | Check both the required form and the kill, not just a wiki checkmark. |
The site's creature directory contains 54 reviewed launch-era records, including categories beyond ordinary fish. The Islet Update added creatures. That database is a reference for its covered entries, not the denominator for your current in-game collection.
Use the 1.1.3 bait reveal to plan a Drip hunt
Patch 1.1.3 makes Fishipedia display a creature's bait after you have killed it once. This gives a returning collector an in-game starting point for the next hunt.
- Choose one incomplete entry. Decide whether you still need the ordinary creature, the Drip form, or both. Keep the entry visible long enough to note its identity.
- Read the revealed bait. For a creature already killed, use the entry's current bait name. If the entry is undiscovered, do not expect this feature to fill in the missing information automatically.
- Prepare a specific trip. Match the target with the relevant island or encounter guide and bring the bait you recorded. Review any quest requirement before leaving.
- Confirm the result after a kill. Check the ordinary and Drip entries again, then move to another target or note what remains missing.
The bait reveal helps you choose an input. It does not publish a Drip probability or guarantee how many casts a hunt will take. Keep the creature directory and bait guide beside your in-game entry when planning covered launch encounters.
Drip fish skins, equipment skins and the wishbone
If you searched for “Drip fish skins,” first choose whether you mean a creature's rare form or a cosmetic for your equipment. Fishipedia's achievement concerns Drip creatures. The bow skins mentioned in 1.1.2 are equipment cosmetics, so unlocking one is not a substitute for a creature entry.
Use a Drip catch to obtain and equip a skin
- Set aside quest trophies first. Keep anything needed for an unfinished hand-in. Choose a spare Drip creature for the machine; the Rocks slot-machine guide explains why you should preserve progression items.
- Take the Drip to a Reel of Fortune. Insert it at the skin machine and read the reward. Player replies distinguish the required Drip input from an ordinary fish and identify the reward as an item skin.
- Hold the item named by the reward. Use its current skin-change prompt to cycle the unlocked appearances. Community instructions describe Z or C on keyboard; follow your current bindings if they differ. Check the named item instead of looking for a new weapon in your inventory.
For the Lucky Bone or wishbone, read the current item's tooltip and euro price before spending. A luck claim quoted in a player discussion is not a measured Drip catch rate. The wishbone purchase guide covers the available evidence without turning it into a guaranteed farming formula.
A useful order is to identify your target, confirm its bait and route, then consider optional purchases. That makes it easier to see which part of the plan actually needs improvement.
Check the Tench fix before following an old missing-fish report
Tench could not spawn from the new bait until a fix in 1.1.2. The September 29 announcement explicitly repairs that problem. A failed attempt from the first day of the Islet Update should therefore be compared with the installed version.
Update the game before retesting; in co-op, check the host and guests. Once you obtain and kill the creature, use the current Fishipedia bait display as your reference for later attempts.
What to check when Fishipedia shows 61/62
In a September 28 Steam discussion, several players report 61/62 while also missing the ordinary form. Replies describe a Euro-section entry between Char and Mahi-Mahi, with a rounded-stomach silhouette. Those reports predate the next day's Tench fix.
Match the entry before assuming you have the same issue. The same total can represent different missing creatures, and the thread does not establish the missing slot's identity.
- Record the installed patch. Include it when comparing your result with a report written before 1.1.2.
- Capture the exact entry. Note the section, adjacent creature names, silhouette and displayed total.
- Compare both forms. Check whether the ordinary creature is missing too, or whether only its Drip entry remains incomplete.
- Record the attempt. Write down bait, rod, island landmark, host or guest role, and whether mods are active.
- Report a reproducible result. Include what you expected and what happened after updating. Keep the save intact while gathering this information.
A long unsuccessful session does not establish an impossible catch or a guaranteed reset remedy. If the updated game still behaves unexpectedly, use the troubleshooting guide and the developer's community support links.
Turn the remaining entries into a short fishing plan
Make a note for each target with five fields: creature or slot, ordinary progress, Drip progress, revealed bait, and destination. This is enough to distinguish an unknown creature from a known creature whose rare form is still missing.
- Known base creature, missing Drip: start with the revealed bait and revisit its established encounter route.
- Neither form discovered: identify the slot and location before committing to a long grind.
- Missing new-islet entry: check the version and the islet exploration guide.
- Collection appears complete: compare the actual game state with the Steam achievement condition; the website does not award achievements.
Group targets by destination when planning the next trip, while keeping their ordinary and Drip progress separate.
Fishipedia questions
Why does an entry not show its bait?
The official 1.1.3 feature appears after the creature has been killed once. Check the installed version and discovery state before treating an undiscovered entry as broken.
Was the new-bait Tench problem fixed?
Yes. The 1.1.2 notes explicitly name the repair. That is more current evidence than the September 28 reports, but it is not confirmation that every missing-fish case has been solved.
Does 61/62 prove the missing fish is Tench?
No. The reviewed player thread describes a position and silhouette; the patch names Tench. Neither source explicitly connects every 61/62 report to that species.
Are the site's 54 creature records the complete Islet roster?
No. They are the reviewed launch-era subset. Use your current in-game encyclopedia for the collection you are completing; additional unverified rows would make the guide less reliable.
